PayPal payment error "Sorry — your last action could not be completed"

Warning message

Hosted Apache Solr shut down on October 31, 2022. Read this FAQ for more details.

If you receive an error like the following when you try to pay for your subscription via PayPal, you might need to temporarily disable your PayPal authentication key (see this post for more).

The message reads:

Sorry — your last action could not be completed

If you were making a purchase or sending money, we recommend that you check both your PayPal account and your email for a transaction confirmation after 30 minutes.

If you came to this page from another website, please return to that site (don't use your browser's Back button) and restart your activity.

If you came from PayPal's website, click the PayPal logo in the upper-left corner to return to our home page and restart your activity. You might have to log in again.

For some reason, PayPal subscription payments don't work correctly if your account has an authentication key.

To temporarily disable your authentication/security key, do the following:

  1. Go to Profile > Profile and settings
  2. Click on the 'My Settings' section
  3. Click on the 'Security key' option, and choose the 'Deactivate' option.

To re-enable the key, do the same steps but activate the key again.
